Camp Cory Centennial

Celebrating 100 Years at Camp Cory!

2020 has been an extremely challenging year for Camp Cory, the entire YMCA association, and for all of us. Through it all, Camp Cory has shown great resilience and we are already looking forward to next year. As you may know, 2021 marks an important milestone: 100 years since the dedication of this special plot of land on Keuka Lake known as YMCA Camp Cory.

Recently, we (Aaron Proietti and Randi Stern) were honored to be invited to co-chair the planning for the camp’s centennial celebration. As former campers and staff members with a fond appreciation of camp, we have eagerly jumped in—excited to start the process, and motivated by the pride associated with being part of the Camp Cory Alumni community.

From August 27 through August 29, 2021, we are inviting the camp community and alumni network to join us in celebrating the 100th  Anniversary of Camp Cory. This celebration weekend will provide us a wonderful opportunity to showcase the progress Cory has made over time. We have big goals for this weekend that we’ll share soon. Right now, we can tell you that our biggest goal is to bring people together!

Our community is nothing without our current campers and staff but includes so many more: camper and staff alumni, members of the YMCA of Greater Rochester family, supportive members of our local community, and the friends and family who hold a place in their hearts for Camp Cory. We cannot wait to share in the celebration of a camp that has been so meaningful in so many people’s lives for such a significant time.

Our celebration will not be restricted to a weekend celebration — it will be a yearlong celebration! We have a commemorative new logo. We’ll soon showcase special 100th-anniversary gear, too. And we hope to host some special events along the way.

In order to provide you with what you want we need to hear from you. Please fill out our community survey to help us design the best possible event. Your input, energy, stories, and ideas are welcome. We will not be successful without the involvement of our vast alumni network. Stay plugged in to learn about opportunities to volunteer to help make it all happen.

Our first request is this: Help us spread the word and generate excitement for the 100th Anniversary Celebration. Help us find those who have been shaped by Camp Cory and invite them to reconnect through the Camp website’s alumni page, and to follow our YMCA Camp Cory & YMCA Camp Cory Alumni Association Facebook pages.

Perhaps what we’re most excited about is not the opportunity to recognize the tremendous success of Camp Cory’s first 100 years, but rather, the opportunity to use this time together with the Camp Cory community to kick off the next 100!

We look forward to (re)connecting with you all,

Aaron Proietti (camper in the 1980s, staff in 1990s) and Randi Stern (camper in the 1990s, staff in the 2000s)

Aaron Prioetti Randi Stern
