MEET THE FULL TIME LEADERSHIP TEAM

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: PAT FOSTER

Pat has been working at Camp Cory for more than twenty years, however he has been going to camp since he was 10. He has an extensive background working with kids, holding a variety of different roles during his time at camp and being a former Special Education Teacher. Pat holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from Lesley University, in addition to his Bachelor's from Nazareth College. He and his wife, Nicole, live in Fairport with their children Brooklyn and Teddy.

CAMP DIRECTOR: BLAKE VAN HORN

Blake has been working at Camp Cory since 2007 in various roles: Specialist, Village Head, Leadership Director, Day Camp Director, and Program Director. She was working full-time for the YMCA previously in the Before and After School Department and running the Youth and Government Teen Program. She is dedicated to providing high-quality programs and experiences to all of our campers. Blake has her BA in English and Secondary Education from SUNY Geneseo as well as a Masters in Curriculum Development from the University of Michigan. When they are not at camp, Blake lives in Canandaigua with her husband Joshua and their dogs Anubis, Harper and Blanche.

CAMP RANGER: FREDDY STEIN

Freddy attended many YMCA programs in his youth including Before and After School Programs, Camp Arrowhead, and even Camp Cory. Freddy has worked in camping for over a decade; his first year was as a counselor in 2011 at Massawepie Scout Camps. Freddy joined the Cory team as Ranger in 2021 after serving as the Ranger at Camp Babcock-Hovey. Freddy’s focus at camp is maintaining and improving the facilities. Outside of work, you can find Freddy paddling his canoe, hiking, and spending time with his family. Freddy earned his Bachelor’s in History and Inclusive Adolescent Education from Nazareth College; he also holds a degree from MCC. Freddy lives at camp with his husband, Paul and his son, Andrew. They also share their home with a cat (Ghost) and dog (Zeus).

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION: SYDNEY BARRETTE

Sydney attended Camp Cory as a camper starting in 2007. After completing the CIT program in 2011, she continued at Camp in various roles like Craig Village Head and Staffing Director. You may have also seen her at other Y branches like Bay View, Eastside or Schottland during the off seasons. As Director of Administration, Sydney is here to help families with the enrollment process and to answer any and all questions that you may have about camp. Sydney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from St. John Fisher College. When not at camp, Sydney lives in Irondequoit with her partner James and their dogs Winnie and Shelby.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR: MIKENNA DONZE

Mikenna has been working with Camp Cory since the summer of 2018 after completing her degree in Outdoor Recreation & Education. She worked at Schottland Childcare and the BASP department at the YMCA before transitioning to Cory full time where she still serves as the Day Camp Director. Before moving to Rochester, Mikenna grew up and worked at YMCA Camp Tippecanoe and was very involved in her hometown YMCA in Ohio. As the Program Director, Mikenna is excited to better our program opportunities as well as bring new faces and ideas to Camp Cory. In the off season, Mikenna lives in Penfield with her fiancé Josh and their dogs Bonzo and Oakley.

Counselors who supervise our Day Campers, who may or may not live at camp.

Overnight Camp Counselors

Staff members who live in the cabins while supervising campers.

Program Area Specialists

Staff who run our program areas, making sure that campers learn and achieve goals.

Support Staff

Staff who support the camp experience through care of the property or serving in out infirmary or kitchen.

Village Heads

Staff who oversee counselors and junior counselors in their village and ensure quality camp experience for the campers.

  • Specialists: $350-370
  • Support Staff: $380-400
  • Central Staff: $420-500
